Whether one is in an urban, suburban, rural, or wilderness setting, one thing that dramatically enhances the experience in the western US is the great, ever changing bowl of sky so close at hand. Taken variously in TX, NM, CO, and WY, the sky's imposing presence is a dominant theme in these miscellaneous pictures. Wildlife in natural appearing settings, from a river otter (its image actually captured in Chicago's Shedd Aquarium) to a great blue heron or sliders (taken in FL), is a secondary theme. The lake and beach shots here are also from FL, while the cave images are from Longhorn Cavern in TX, the misty dawn photo comes from a park where we were camping in WY, and the beautifully painted or striped landscape pictures were taken at Dinosaur National Monument, which straddles the UT/CO border. |
