Phil's Landscape Photo Favorites

About Me:

I'm a serious, impassioned, yet sensitive kind of guy, with a witty, ironic sense of humor, and a philosophical, meditative bent.

Hobbies & Interests:

Most all kinds of reading, movies, good music, especially classical and film scores, travel, meditation, writing, dedication to my marriage (to a pretty and brilliant woman), investing, nature, PBS TV viewing, internet browsing, fine restaurants, etc.

Friends & Family:

A frivolous clan, including misfits, poor folks, weirdos, musicians (though that's redundant), meditators, pets, health nuts, storytellers, three or four millionaires, funny folks, etc.

Site Descriptions:

Phil's Place is dedicated to blank verse, hypnotic trance, stream of consciousness, dream image, meditation vision, and free associative entries, moving backward in time. I believe, with Carl Gustav Jung, that to explore the "unconscious" is to plumb our deepest selves, our essential, archetypal states of being. In the depths we may discover exotic and mysterious aspects of our own natural history.

The Vintage Diarist is in a more narrative style, with recent entries, abundant links, and some journal submissions back to the early 1970's.

Investor's Journal is a diary focused strictly on investments and personal finance issues, primarily from a contrarian and retiree point of view. Follow along with an average guy's failures and successes as he learns, by trial and error, the fine art of value investing.

A fourth site, Phil's Landscape Photo Favorites, features some of my better photography of outdoor subjects, taken from 1989 to the present. The galleries include Colorado, Enchanted Rock, California, Oregon, Yellowstone, etc.

Dream Realm Diaries is a personal journal, with related dream diary links, about the confusion, inspiration, grief, joy, fear, humor, excitement, wisdom, frustration, and adventure of following and interpreting one's dreams with the aid of an experienced and supportive dream group.

1/3/11-Frigid, he thought, describes both the morning landscape and relations with Mary two weeks into their affair. How could he have believed they loved each other? On his way to work in the next town, the big flake snow flurries blew across his vision ahead. Already they had settled on the road in miniature deltas and drifts. His truck radio blared on the long drive in, seventies music and manically social chatter. The truck clattered across a metal bridge spanning the Tar River, its cold surface dark, ice forming at the edges...
