Disclaimer - IMPORTANT - Read this first!
Investor's Journal is a diary focused strictly on investments and personal finance issues, primarily from a contrarian and retiree point of view. Follow along with an average guy's failures and successes as he learns, by trial and error, the fine art of value investing.

5/31/25- Our total liquid assets, now at $2,245,646, are up $29,203 or 1.32% since the April entry. My wife's and my nest egg of all asset categories is at $2,806,729, down $11,858 or 0.42% from its level on 12/31/24.

I continue to be cautious about the U.S. economy and to want a major proportion of our liquid assets to be in reserves, money market funds, or bond funds. I am partial to dividend paying stocks, stock funds, bonds, bond funds, or equivalent exchange traded funds, figuring that markets may be up or down, but dividend income has more stable value, regardless of the underlying stock price quotations.

These are of particular interest for me at this time. I have shares of most of them already: BKLN (div. 8.05%); CALM (div. 7.03%); CIVI (div. 7.31%); EGY (div. 7.89%); GSL (div. 8.45%); HYG (div. 5.90%); JEPI (div. 7.79%); JNK (div. 6.72%); PBR (div. 19.91%); PFE (div. 7.32%); SCHD (div. 4.03%); and SPG (div. 5.15%). Overall, these are not especially low risk. It is particularly appropriate, therefore, that readers do their own due diligence and/or rely only on well trusted financial consultants before making any investment purchases.

Disclaimer and Disclosure Statement
Much as I'd love it to be otherwise, I receive no payment of any kind for disseminating investment information unless, by some fluke, millions of folks, on the strength of these entries, start buying shares of stock I own, a possibility only slightly less likely than our being destroyed by a large meteorite. Do not follow any suggestions made in Investor's Journal as if I were a professional.

Neither I nor Investor's Journal will be responsible for losses by anyone who obtained ideas from this site.

This diary is intended for personal interest and general information only. You are advised to do your own research (as well as to consult highly compensated professionals) before spending money on anything.

I know of no reason anyone should take my financial musings seriously. At best I am a dedicated amateur providing a bit of investment-related insight and entertainment, at worst an amusing diversion.

My wife, Fran, and I may at times own shares of some of the assets mentioned here. But neither of us receive any benefit from reference to them, unless you count the mutual misery when we get it wrong, or the opportunity to gloat when we get it right.
